Frewarning: Your going to need tissues for this song if you thought Mama's Song (Last Tuesday) was emotional this one will really get you.
As you will come to see Carrie Underwood is a favorite of mine and today I review her second iTunes release Temporary Home
If your a Carrie Underwood fan then you will know that Carrie has released a few power house ballads in the past few years (Jesus Take The Wheel and So Small to name two) however this song is not only powerful but heart has a powerful message behind it as well.
According to co-writer Luke Laird Carrie had everything mapped out for the song "She had the whole thing mapped out," Laird says. "She had the title, knew basically what she wanted each verse to say. She didn't have anything actually written down, but that made a huge difference. Most songs, even when I'm writing with other writers, we don't have them that mapped out, so we're just filling in the pieces. But she really knew what she wanted to say." The song has three different stories behind it: A little boy in a foster home, a mom and her baby daughter in a halfway house and a man in a dying hospital bed [Re-re the forewarning]
Carrie vocals really shine on this there breathtaking you could say, she has really grown as a vocalist over the past four years and this really proves it. It has to be one of my favorites from this CD so far, it will really touch a lot of people in many ways. So in saying that I ask you to go pick up a copy on iTunes and listen for yourself.
Temporary Home Lyrics
A little boy six years old
a little too used to being alone
another new mom and dad
another school another house that will never be home
when people ask him how he likes this place
he looks up and says with a smile upon his face
this is my temporary home
its not where i belong
windows and rooms
that i'm passing thorugh
this is just a stop
on the way to where im going
i'm not afraid because i know
this is my temporary home
young mom on her own
she needs a little help got nowhere to go
shes looking for a job, looking for a way out
cause the halfway house will never be a home
at night she whispers to her baby girl
someday we'll find a place here in this world
this is our temporary home
its not where we belong
windows and rooms
that we're passing through
this is just a stop
on the way to where we're going
i'm not afraid because i know
this is our temporary home
old man, hospital bed
the room is filled with people he loves
and he whispers dont cry for me
i'll see you all someday
he looks up and says "I can see God's face."
this is my temporary home
its not where i belong
windows and rooms
that i'm passing through
this was just a stop
on the way to where im going
i'm not afraid because i know
this was my temporary home.
this is our temporary home.
